Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is another in a long line of Dynasty Warriors spin-off games combining thrilling battlefield action with strategic gameplay. Empires takes the focus away from the historical figures that roamed the battlefields of the Three Kingdoms of China, and emphasizes player-created characters and strategic gameplay.

Gameplay Stratagems from Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires return with enhanced features. New grand-scale stratagems take longer to complete but can dramatically affect the flow of battle. Weather conditions and time can affect certain stratagems’ proficiency and change a battlefield’s appearance. Certain characters have DLC weapons as their EX Weapons. Players may also categorize weapons by type or faction ownership. Preset bases have levels to indicate their potency. Simple bases can be constructed anywhere on the map to provide auxiliary assistance. If players possess a high rank, they can order other generals. Rulers can set specific priorities to policies. Fame has been revamped to allow the selection of different play styles. It lost its visual GUI notices. The marriage system now enables couples to have children. Scenes dedicated to married couples have been expanded. Offspring inherit their parents’ stats and genes. Players can keep and reuse their previous edit characters since the same edit features return in this title. They can also edit the appearance of their banner, soldiers, horses, and create scenarios to upload for online sessions. Other players can download them. Soldiers – Customizable features include body posture and weapon usage. Horses – Customizable features include hair color and size. Crossplay can be done between the PS3 and PS4 ports. Downloadable content so far consists of edit character parts.

  1. Does Empires come with all the content on Dynasty Warriors 8 Extreme? Or is it something completly different?

  2. Wtf! Why the hell you have like 4x more allies when you play solo then when u play splitscreen? When u play splitscreen every officer have 9 soldiers and the enemies have a looot. When u play solo then u officers have like 30 soldiers and it liok like a real war fights everywhere but on solit screen its trash! Cuz it dont look like war, everyone go on you and you have no allies even the bases have only like 6 soldiers and on solo they have a lot. I seriously dont get this and it ruin the game for me l dont wana feel like it's me vs everyone l want the war feeling. Total disappointment.

  3. Nice review! Looks like what I played long ago, downloading it now, gotta love when Xbox sells games at 60+% off!

  4. ugh looks like just another ur op as ever dw game. i dont mind that but i miss the days when u had to really chip away at an enemies hp bar wich made u want a better weapon but not now where u can murder anything at level 1 on hard mode. ugh

  5. no one got how how to get achieve both Virtue above 3000 and below -3000 the two-face tag mostyl is tie in to a lot of the dam way of lifes if some one got a help full tip i will help you out by subing to ur page

  6. Looks like Koei got really lazy in their planning department. Every new title seems to just be a copy of the last with very minor additions. The hack and slash gameplay is understandable since that's the selling point of DW. But in Empires? There really is a lot more that can be done about the character development, army management, battle strategies, and AI aspects.

  7. I thought this game was trash empires 5 is still the best one. And the fact you can’t place your custom armies is stupid af

  8. Gotta say that I love the events and tactics of 7E more than what we get in 8. Hopefully if we get 9, Koei finds a way to combine both games into pure awesomeness. Oh and that they give us more scenarios aside from DLC.

  9. Hey Sir James, maybe this is something you might be interested in!

  10. i have been trying to find out about this question for a while now. perhaps you can help me. can the unique officers have their older costumes unlocked in the xbox one version? do they need to be purchased? or are they not even in the game at all? i've seen gameplay of empires where they do have them. is it just exclusive to a specific version? i'm hoping not, but do you know if its so?

  11. just got this and I loved it haven't played dw in forever last time I play was on the ps2 with SWE also

I just missed it and I'm enjoying it so so much

  12. Can you import a saved game into DW8: Empires… I have DW8 and DW8 XL… Can i import the dabbed data from those games onto Empires?
